Johnny was the republican right winger. Joey wrote the song.

So Ramones inventing an entire genre with their first album isn't important or groundbreaking in your estimation?

I've listened to PiL and nothing about it sounds groundbreaking to me. I don't even remember ever hearing them mentioned as influences on the bands/artists I know and love.

In my view the Ramones output from '79 to '81 isn't groundbreaking. The earlier albums are great and very influential but the albums from '79 to '81 weren't.
And we could debate who invented punk all day long and never agree.
I do like them but crying about how the Sex Pistols spoiled it for them is pretty lame.

So we agree there is a point then?

Johnny was the Reagan/Republican supporter in the band. He even thanked George W Bush when the Ramones went into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.

Bonzo Goes to Bitburg is all Joey, Johnny allegedly never even played guitar on the recording.

Ha ha. I meant the time of PILs first three LPs, late '78/79 to '81.
Really, I did...

I'm chuffed with this. Butter adverts or not, I think this man has his head screwed on. I loved his autobiography, he's a very intelligent man and the Manics should be happy he's given them the thumbs up (didn't slag them off, like James thought he would ).

I wonder what the young Johnny Rotten would say to his older self if he could see him. And vice versa.

Rise is a helluva track, to be fair.
