It's clearly the voice of a third person. The whole song seems to be a self depreciating one about champagne socialism.

I think this is brilliant. I love the extra oomph in the rhythm at the start of each verse. Did JDB write the lyrics for this?

Love this song to bits, but for some reason it only hit me this morning - it could fit on The Great Western perfectly!
Sounds to me exactly like something from that album

James always performs his own songs better, probably because he writes them around a melody rather than trying to wrap a melody around lyrics.

Shame they didn't use this or 'The Next Plane To Leave Moscow' as a promo for the album instead of 'Futurology'. I actually like the latter on the album, but it's not a patch on the other two and going from the Later performance, sounds awful live.

It does, sadly. It heard it three times before the album was out. I didn't see any structure in the song at all until the third time round. Wire's barely audible vocals don't help with that, of course. But I digress.

Not sure "Moscow" would be working as a single, but it would have been great to hear the song played live. JUst to see what angle they would have chosen for it, whether it would haven been a more straight-forward rocker, or an acoustic take, or naysmithed to death.

Sorry that should have been 'Let's Go To War'.

Yes, Futurology is a single that must seem like a good idea to someone but really, really isn't. I can't think anyone saw it on Jools Holland and realised they were a fool for not getting the album yet.

Is this song negative towards Moscow / Russia? Feels like the sentiment is to turn their backs.
