Here we go!!

Rough Trade wins the race on this one.

Can confirm Orwellian Remix is the "Wage war! Wage war!" song heard in recent concert intros.

Watching the Radio 2 gig now and Don't Let The Night Divide Us sounds much better live but I still don't really like it as a song. Just a warning if you do watch or listen to the gig then prepare to put up with a horrible sound mix.

It actually does seem like they do have the deluxe versions of older albums on there so let's hope they have the deluxe version of TUVL on there too.

Just got my Rough Trade 12inch/7inch bundle too. The album art seems more … vivid … in person… and definitely deserves to be seen at 12 inch size I think.

The thing is, the idea of record 'collecting' was once about tracking down new interesting variants. With proper trainspotter-style fans, things like differences in sleeve design, altered tracklist to fit the format, misprints, etc. are all interesting, and they would come along as inherent parts of releases being put out on different formats, being licensed to different territories, etc. But having loads of versions in identical sleeves, with the only difference being the colour of the vinyl - not even a picture disc, which in itself has a certain aesthetic value, but just a different dye in the plastic - is labels absolutely taking advantage of those who are into collecting, and have maybe got into collecting because it was once the aforementioned intriguing hobby.

I don't particularly blame the Manics for this, every major release and a lot of indie ones do the same these days, without it band and label income would be even lower than it already is. It's just quite a sad state of affairs, really. I'd love to see sales totals if they were one equivalent sale per buyer rather than per item bought. I bet most would at least halve. Which is worrying, given that it only takes a thousand sales to get into the top 40 on a slow week now.

I'm totally skint so I'll probably be ordering my copy next week now. Be the first Manics album I've not got on release day for ages!

Spillers records are on the ball as well, ordered the holiday paperback thriller* version yesterday and it came today. Which is nice.

*It really does in this format!

I hate to say this, but... there’s a reason publishers ask for high res TIFFs

Resolution-wise, the artwork looks like Nicky asked them to use one of his Instagram posts for the printing

Hmm. I disagree a bit. Resolution looks fine to me, looking at it closer I think it has a lot of sharpening which is probably why it looks so vivid when you’re not looking up really close.
