It’s in their top 3 and also one of my all time favourites.

Wow, where did ten years go? Still love the album just as much as when it came out.

Journal gig one of my faves from the times I've seen them. Privileged to see that and THB both in full!

The wiki page says -

Nicky Wire – bass guitar, backing vocals, lead vocals on "William's Last Words", piano on "Virginia State Epileptic Colony"

Nicky played piano on VSEC?!

Something I love about it is that between the demos and radio sessions you can build close to a complete acoustic version of the album and it still stands up very strongly (Marlon JD is fantastic acoustic and I much prefer the acoustic version of the title track too but perhaps that's just my Foo Fighters aversion!) A sign of good songwriting in my book.

I can sort of understand why they play it down from a personal level and it must have been an awful experience for them but Christ it's a great album.

Big shout out for Primitive Painters too, my favourite cover version of theirs(ok, maybe joint top with Red Sleeping Beauty).

Went to the Wolverhampton gig on this tour with my brother, & it was an epic gig, the fact that they played JFPL in full as a three piece Was amazing to see. Or of the 20 or 30 t Tim’s I’ve seen them, this gig would haave to be in my to 3, just wish I could have seen more on that tour, but am happy I got to see it once tbh. Amazing time to be a fan, such anticipation for this album.

Don't know why but missing the JFPL era recently.

SATT was a bit too self-aware for me. And PFAYM was just awful.

Of course there was something calculated about JFPL but it was a bit of an artistic statement. The songs were fantastic and I listened non-stop to the album. Enjoyed the doc as well. And the JFPL gig I was at was one of my fav Manics gigs ever back when playing a whole album was a bit more of a novelty.

Just a great album and a great era.

They were incredible gigs, glad I managed to get to one as we’re never going to see 11+ of those songs played live again. Gutted we never got a soundboard version.

A strange time - they looked at real ease making it when they could’ve quite easily have been the opposite.

Anyone who went to the Brighton Dome here? Chris Eubank bowled up at a nearby hotel when a load of us were in the pub post-gig. Wished us all goodnight in a surreal old moment.
