That was my 8th post on FD in 18 months. This is my 9th. Nice to see that someone who joined Nov 2011 (since when I've made seemingly made 45 posts on FD) immediately knows who I am. Pleased to meet you; I'm a dick

I've noticed his voice change, but it was kinda inevitable with time so it doesn't bother me. I'd be surprised if he could still belt out a song like Drug Drug Druggy as he once did. I don't often watch videos back of events I attended because they never sound or look as good as I remember on the night.

I will not hear a word against JDB's voice, he sounds amazing! Some people are never happy.

I've just realised this is the first manics set I've seen in the past few years where they haven't done It's Not War... Maybe we've turned a corner?

Yay! Also no Motown Junk, which really surprised me. But I was well happy, I'll happily take P.C.P. or Europa with Nina over it.

I suspect judging him solely on a filmed festival performance is probably a touch unfair. I haven't seen them recently, but in the mid 2000s his voice was amazing.

It's funny how ageism is deemed acceptable in music, but not in other careers....

So, fans can't criticize things that those they are fans of do, in your opinion?

Just because you are a fan of an artists work doesn't mean you can't point out flaws, or dislike it.

There are a lot of musicians/writers/film-makers etc who I'm a big fan of but have a critical opinion on aspects of their work that I think are shit/weak; it doesn't make me a bad fan, it just means I'm still entitled to an opinion.

Dude's in his mid-40s and has always been a heavy smoker - his voice was bound to degrade at some point, and voila, it is doing. Not his fault (well, the smoking is), just what it is.

My point was that you just happened to come on and make a barbed comment towards a band you no longer like or follow as if it makes you look funny. It doesn't.

There's a few around these parts like that! I'm with AK on that point.
We almost all say when we don't like something, but some defitley do come on here wih the sole intent of slagging the band off.
OK OK people can Have an opinion but it's also my opinion that jays a pretty sad thing to do!

I think criticising the band physically is just stupid. Age catches up with everyone and so questioning Jimbo's voice to me is a little bit of Dumb cunt same dumb question.

People are highly critical of the band on here - including myself - but it is always artistic criticism about a band we love. But at the end of the day how can any of us keyboard warriors try to say we know better than 4 fellas that made it critically and commercially?

every manics gig needs 3 things IMO:

ADFL, ME and MJ (tolerate I wouldn't mind if they dropped, not really a massive fan of the song apart from the end of the middle 8-ish section ("and on the street tonight...") which is hair raising.
