There was only about 150 in attendence so probably not many to talk about it ?let's not have another bunfight about guestlists!). I saw a gig review linked on their Twitter earlier but that's about it.

I wasn't there but can I moan about Let Robeson Sing being in the setlist?

I think it fits the current climate bringing that song back into the setlists.
But by all means, please moan!

I hadn't thought about it along those lines... there's just far more interesting songs that I'd like to hear live. Such as any other song off Know Your Enemy!

I wouldn't object to Gruff Rhys turning up to sing it

See, this is the kind of thing i was referring to in the other thread - the band should be talking about it but we've got radio silence. Not that they have to tweet every damn thing! I like that they have this sort of sparks-esque mystique about them but i also believe they still want the biggest audience possible, they've always chased that, but i see little evidence they're willing to work for it in our "quick fix, one hour photo, instant oatmeal society". Then again, reading that nme interview they seem to have come to terms with their place in the musical landscape so who knows eh?

Press embargo? Imagine the gig will be advertised as it could on the BBC nearer the time.
"And Manic Street Preachers" or just the band's name in an advert between shows on BBC One.
Have checked at least three plays of The Secret He Had Missed on R2 today. That's up from Orwellian (usually two a day) so that's up.
I don't think there's any reason to panic yet.
But can they get the staff? That could be one thing. I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about regards music industry. But maybe they just can't afford to get the staff to host online presence like they used to?

But hello to Guests reading going "Yeah but it's because of people like you".
Hello. Are you enjoying the read? Hope things are well with how it's going for you.

Talking about them embracing social media (I can’t imagine them becoming anymore active than they are at the moment), what happened to these 30 second snippets of the recording of TUVL? They were meant to form a bit of a series weren’t they?!

I assumed we’d get a couple a week or a batch released but we had a couple of teasers around two months ago and nothing since.

Was also hoping for some sort of live stream / virtual gig during lockdown but I knew that was never going to happen. Would’ve happily paid good money for something like that last year.

They are standing in for Richard Ashcroft at Victorius or whatever it's called Festival.
Because I've misrembered the name of the festival despite just looking at it, I forfeit any right to make a thread about it.
But Manics at a festival next week I think!
Richard Ashcroft was going to perform, but the Manics are instead.

All of these are very good but I think the Wire doll is the best of the lot:

Each figure cost Mish £65 each, and she says it was more than worth it.
Good grief. That's dedication to the cause. I'm not a fan of funko pop figures but these do look pretty great and very identifiably manics from those eras, particularly james and nicky.

This pianist has put up some great manics covers on YouTube recently (check out We Are All Bourgeois Now) but this Show me the Wonder& Welcome to the Dead Zone medley is particularly superb :

The woman in the painting for THB is suing the Manic Street Preachers for "fat shaming" her for over twenty years.
When asked by a reporter if her suit had more weight than her birthday suit, she freaked out going "What's that supposed to mean?".
Showbiz Lawyers apparently charge by the second.

(And yes, although I'm meant to be cryogenically frozen, someone knocked the cable out of the socket and it took ages to find dry clothing)
