I'm guessing Anthem for a Lost Cause? But us the fans will want 30 year War?

"30 Year War" or, for something a little more unusual, "3 Ways To See Despair".

Agreed on both counts.

I just want people to see they're still relevant. Nicky just wants to get back on Strictly.

Joe public isn't going to give two shits about what 30 yr war is about. It won't do any better than Anthem for a lost cause

This.

Also, if as has already been posted on here by AK47 (I think) the next single is released in December, Anthem sounds far more Christmassy. I like them both, but Anthem is more commercial, and means ooh look, I just sold a few thousand more albums at Christmas which equals happy Nicky and James can buy some more amps and pedals and guitars and tinsel. Bet he's a demon for tinsel.

Agrees, 30 year war is just lyrically embarrasing

Anthem For a Lost Cause is the most likely of the remaining album tracks to be played on Radio 2, so it'll no doubt be that.

I was happy when the band suggested a while back there might not be any more singles ('dead art form' etc), mainly seeing as they don't sell in any useful number anymore. There really aren't any further proper singles on this album anyway, SMTW is completely on its own in terms of sound and style. And Christmas? AFALC has a chorus that's the equivalent of wearily hanging yourself with the sodding tinsel.

Maybe also James in Cardiff in 2006, now lost in the fog of memory....

Why not release the other album single on January?

Isn't it glorious to have the "Manics proper" back?

I'd say Anthem is odds on to be the next single, it's catchy and best placed to shift more units, as it were. If they bother with a third single I'd say it would be 30 Year War, to bridge the gap to the first single from Futurology.
