Okay, I'm going to just come right out with it; I really, really enjoyed all three of the new b-sides. "What Happened To The Blue Generation" is incredibly catchy and that lead guitar line is lovely. "Melancholyme" is way better than "Show Me The Wonder" and might well end up on my version of the album (once I've heard it, will have to see if it fits well). "T.E. Lawrence On A Bike" is one of the strangest things the Manics have ever done. It wouldn't fit anywhere in their catalogue, on any album, but it's just such an enjoyable experience to listen to something that bizarre. Love it.

It wasn't the aim to though really. They thankfully seem to have left the whole chart-chasing thing behind with the Postcards era.

They would have been a bit better if they released the track after the first radio play. Not by much but by some copies more.

A few more maybe, but I don't think the single is the priority with this release. It doesn't even seem representative of the album judging from what I've heard so far.

Yeah, I'm much the same. Really enjoyed them all.

Has anyone thought to put the vinyl b-sides up on YouTube or some such? My turntable is fucked & I dare not play anything on it!

Also prefer "Melancholyme" to "Show Me The Wonder".

Malancholyme has great verses. Got to say, I'm really enjoying the drum sound on this, as well as all the new tracks. Might be the best drums they've ever recorded, soundwise. Vocals also have a nice 60s sure sound.

The lyrics kinda spoil the chorus though. They're an old-fashioned kinda stupid, but stupid nonetheless.

TE Lawrence is nice. Odd and nice. Would benefit from full instrumentation to really bring the crazy out.

These are all I've gotten my hands on. (I am NOT going to order a fucking vinyl, okay?) Now if anyone were to silently slip Blue Generation on youtube, that would be welcome. Just... slip it in there for a second... Or, you know, PM me.

From what I've heard it sounds like the best one.

All and all, these have been surprisingly good this far.

Melancholyme has been in my head all week so far. it's very... insistent... to the point where the clunky chorus doesn't even bother me. can see this growing to be one of my favourites of this era.

I like Blue Generation the best of the B-sides definitely, but I enjoy them all. T.E. Lawrence OAB is getting towards the wilfully crazy-Engage With Your Shadow end of the scale but somehow remains more on the correct side of the crazy line where EWYS didn't (for me).

And perhaps this is clichéd and obvious but I like to imagine it with a video made up of clips of Lawrence of Arabia! Adds to the crazy.

Was looking forward to hearing MSP get their solitary daytime play on Radio 1 during the chart update - usually before falling out of the Top 40 by Sunday. Guess those days are over! We've certainly slipped into a new era. Fits the themes of the album in any case!
