A good example is Mustapha by Queen, a great song, musically 100%, sound of the lyric 100%, lyrics 0% Still I like it.

Apart from the English bits, it's actually all gibberish.

Definitely a good example for both theories. Some can love it and some can't.

If the melody sucks then it takes me out of the music completely. A song could have wonderful words but if the melody is subpar, it loses all relevance on me.

I can like a song for its melody but what makes me love a song is the lyric.

Some arabic and zorastrian words amongst the jibberish, IIRC

As used in Bohemian Rhapsody too. Bismillah!

I always thought it was "Allah will pray for you".

Google thinks so too by and large.

Gods praying. Mind blown.

I don't need a mellody to like a song. Just rhythm and noise in enough.

But I do understand some songs just sound too boring no matter the good lyrics. Some soundwaves just can't be accepted by our brains....

It works the same for me but only for bands or solo artists I already liked.Otherwise If I don't like a song musically I will pay no attention to the lyrics.

Sometimes I have daydreams of playing Queen's Mustapha to an audience of EDL or some such fascist group.

I think we should be hearing this very very soon... It's Not War was released on the 13th September 2010, and we heard it for the first time on 26th July (Although the video did follow a fair bit later than that), so with Show Me The Wonder to be released on the 9th September this year, i reckon we might hear the single on Monday (just an educated guess, i have absolutely no concrete info whatsoever)
