I give this one a listen quite a bit actually, but only for the lyrics, I'm fast approaching my mid forties, still praying for that big lottery win and over the past few months I've been in touch with a couple of ex girlfriends on FB and all the talk about just how much fun we had together in our teens, when we were young and beautiful, while being a lovely trip down memory lane, has left me at best extremely melancholic and at worst utterly depressed. So yeah the words resonate. Musically though you have to say it's a failure, which is a shame considering how good the band have been at putting their own stamp on covers in the past.

Maybe that's it Cherrybomb? It's a song for the er...senior manics fan? As a more acceptable tune puts it- looking back, all you see is more and more junk. I can't imagine how that would feel; talking to exes from way back. I wouldn't dare look them up to be honest. Too many lost moments, glimpses of what could have been, too deep to go into without causing a major headfuck.

There seems to be this fan mantra that it's utterly wrong for this band who, let's face, have only released one album full of scary imagery, unsettling music and one that leaves a feeling of dread with you long after hearing it but SATT isn't completely without poppy sentiment. Titd is decent, expendable.

I'm still devastated that I don't own the physical CD single of This Is The Day. Modern life is rubbish.

I got two copies from HMV. I sold one copy and then went and lost the other. Good times.

You could have made some money with that lost one as well!

I really love This Is The Day! I think it's better than the original! Also, I was glad to see the band perform it in Antwerp and Amsterdam during the International Treasures tour!

Disliked it at first.

Started to not mind it.

Now I really enjoy it, it's happy and can cheer up my day.

Never going to be one of my favourites, but I enjoy listening to it.

Really grown on me the last few times I've seen it live. It's become quite poignant and emotional.

I can imagine it having quite a punch in a live setting. I hope it will still get aired at future gigs as would love to hear it live!

I understand what you're saying. I felt quite the same at the last gigs they performed it. Especially at the O2 with the huge screens showing the videoclip.

this

The opening crash of guitars is really uplifting. I think it's a good cover version, and it's not bland at all. The lyrics really suit the video and the band looking back at it's past
