Would You Go On A "Rock Cruise" With The Band?

Not content with having a cruise on a big boat... you can cruise and be entertained by bands!
http://www.cruisemates.com/articles/...#axzz1TtIo2dbi

Lynyrd Skynyrd! Well the surviving members and hopefully not the original drummer who downloaded those kiddie pics...
38-Special! Sister Hazel! Corey Smith! You could actually hang with Corey Smith! Wait... he's not the one from Slipknot is he?
Travis... Mitchell Band, and many, many more Southern Rock and Country bands.
I think Kiss are planning a cruise tour as well as Weezer. (Not on the same boat. Epic crossover as it would be)

What's this doing in discussion?

Would you pay money to go on a three day cruise with the Manics?
Although you might get a decent cruise holiday and the comedy of one of the band being seasick... I couldn't think of a worse hell!
I love the band, I'm buying National Treasures but...

You'd have the same setlist for a start! Plus if you met them, then you'd have your moment with them "Ha ha ha" and end cheerfully, only to bump into them the next day... and the day after that.

Plus there's always the golden get out clause of "They aren't big enough these days to do that sort of stuff".

Maybe I'm wrong and you think this is a great idea. Now an FD cruise, that'd be amazing. Although that too would end up hellish by day two*. Is this the future for bands then?

*= Imagine FD with "cabin fever"...

It's a good way to make some money. Especially for bands past their prime. I'm not sure it is a good idea, but it does work for soap opera actors and other entertainers. You get an 'event' and a 'meet and greet' and a free vacation.

However, it's likely that any such 'cruise' or other 'destination' event will be tightly controlled.

Not in a million years. I can't imagine anything more tedious!

The Weezer one however... now that could be fun!

Laying next to Nicky on the poolside?

I might be tempted but...no, I wouldn't.

My decadent side would've done it with Zeppelin in the '70s.

I bet you shared a chalet with Duncan. Or tried to anyway! I hate the idea of a cruise. Being stuck on board with loads of strangers and having a schedule where to visit and having to return at set times. And then all that dinner at the captains table nonsense. I just think of that episode of Keeping Up Appearances.

I'm sure James would rush to our aid if we started feeling seasick!
