They can do but also re-fit kitchens if they wish to. Whatever happens schools would still need extra staff, children would be better off nutritionally and socially and would actually not go hungry and be able to concentrate much more. Really hope it happens.

I'd agree with this, my mate is a Dinner Lady and says she quite often has children ask her what veg are as they have never seen or tasted them.

Thank you Socialist Cook, I enjoy writing them and receiving them. If anyone else doesn't then hey, they don't have to read them.

Oh, and Nicky loves this backlash by the way!

Outside of his lyrics, hasn't he always been that way though? Preferring instead to talk broadly about politics rather than focus on specific issues?

What backlash? At most there's been a few people annoyed (if you could even call it annoyed) that he blew off some of your more 'in the news' type questions. Hardly even worth noting let alone callng it a "backlash". Lol!

Thanks for continuing to do these short Q&As with him. Not really my thing personally, but loads of fans really quite enjoy them and I'm sure they're very grateful for the time and effort you put into them (Wire too).

Yeah, I guess. But it would be really really really nice to actually see/hear him talking about some of those issues. I can imagine him being tired of those question, or maybe not bothered at all or whatever, but, hey, he's Mr "Igotapoliticsdegreesuckonthatbitchez", and now people (us, fans, whoever), actually do expect him to act that way and gives his opinion when he's asked to. Actually, I'm here, bcz I saw an interview with Russell Brand on Newsnight (I don't know nothing about that, I'm not from the UK, I son't know who Jeremy Paxman is. I'll google it, after I'm done with my exam). Anyway, yeah, I saw this, and I was so surprised how Russell came across, he spoke with so much passion, maybe he hasn't offered any solutions, but hey,he's a celebrity, and yet he looks like he cares than most of the politicians (left or right). Also, I remembered that I read an article he wrote about the riots 2 years ago, so I found it again last night, and wow. I mean, wow. Had no idea he's so articulate and...ok, Russell's not a point here, I know that he probably annoys the shit out of many people here, and that's fine, but, for example, that's the difference, Russell can stay in Hollywood, enjoy his career and supermodels or whatever, yet he still chooses to talk about issues, while Nicky, the political lyricist, Mr Politics Degree, socialist (sort of heh), whenever he's asked a question, goes along the lines: "I see no hope for humanity, it's all an utter despair, blah blah, makes me wanna give up, blah blah"

I'm not saying that RB is better than Nicky, I like them both, I'm just saying, that sometimes, Nicky could've put a bit more effort in answering those questions. There.

Leaving the RB-angle aside, I have to agree with Yana. Nick is evasive or sloganeering whenever he gets asked a political question, I started noticing that especially when Postcards was supposedly so political, but Nick only seemed to give flippant replies. James on the other hand would/will elaborate, not on every topic, but definitely more than Nick. And regarding things such as Cuba-gate or the 2008 bank crash, James is the only Manic I've heard substantial replies from. Nick is very intelligent and well-informed, I don't doubt that. But for some reason he backs away from speaking his mind outside his songs. James doesn't.

Probably because Nicky has his lyrics to express his views and James hasn't.

In television interviews Nicky has been more forthcoming when asked anything political. With this i think he couldn't be arsed. It was just a fan questionnaire after all, his handwriting is on the big side and the text box was fairly small

Probably he wasn't that bothered, but it's not the first time I've noticed his to be evasive, as Ulrike said, it was the same during the Postcards, when he was only offering those standard-sloganeering answers. Also, it was the interview for the NME (I think?), when he was asked about the riots, and he was all: "No hope for humanity, blahblah" Like, totally the same. And that the opportunity to say something, yet he didn't. That's what's actually strange.
And then he complains how all the other artists are shit, and nobody has anything to say.

he also called the riots mindless violence so there's an opinion right there I think it depends who's asking and the mood he's in. There's a tv news interview on you tube where he talks about how effective Gordon Brown was as a leader that he could have brushed off. It's not really fair to ask him what's the solution type questions because who the fuck knows really?
