Angry Ticket let down :(

Well I thought long and hard as to whether to post this but I will, with a few edits.
I arranged with a forum member some months ago to purchase her ticket for Brixton gig that she could no longer make.
I made the necessary arrangements to forward payment and passed on my address for receipt of the ticket.

After a wait of a couple of weeks I sent another message, from which I got the reply that the person was in Hospital. I expressed my sympathies and obviously did not push the matter of the ticket, but was once again assured that the deal was still on.

Once again after a couple more weeks I asked if it was still OK to purchase the ticket and once again was told it was fine and that she would get onto giving me the details of how to pay her for it.

Now due to this person having been in Hospital and stating she was busy with Uni work, I really didn't want to push to strongly.

However, I noticed that last night this person had attended the gig in Brixton and had the utter gall to write about it here.
After I had even asked her if she had changed her mind about selling the ticket and being told that she still wanted to sell.
Now, I realise that at least I didn't hand over any money for this ticket so it might seem like a big fuss I am making, however I am truly saddened by this experience.
I was fortunate enough to attend the XFM gig in December and met a person from the forum there with the ticket and had a great night with her.
But this experience will make me think twice before arranging anything through here. Which is a shame, because despite this, I enjoy the posts here from everybody whether I agree with them or not.

I am disappointed because someone has used the anonymity of the internet to hide behind and believe me I would not allow this sort of behaviour face to face.
Believe me I am willing to show all correspondence I had with this person as I feel I acted with dignity.
I will not publicly name and shame as I would like to take the moral high ground on this occasion, however I do feel it is worth mentioning this as a cautionary tale.

I'm sorry to hear that beautiful distortion, that's just crap really

It's a shame it didn't work out and I think whoever said you could have the ticket owes you a very big apology.

That is pretty bad. Guess they wanted to treat themselves in the end. You could always go tonight? Tickets from here or from the door/a tout?

Would be nice - I have arranged other things because I gave up on the idea of going
I think I will just buy them from official sources from now on.
Thanks though

That really, really sucks man, I'm sorry to hear about that. If the person changed their mind, the very least they could have done was actually tell you about it. Really bad.

That really is despicable. Any decent, normal person would have told you they could no longer provide you with the ticket. It doesn't take much, just a few words typed on a keyboard, not even face to face.

Exactly, I did even mention that if they had changed their mind it was fine but was assured it was still all good!
Anyway I won't keep moaning about it, but thought it was worth mentioning to others.

I was in a similar situation a few years back, I was left without a ticket for a gig because they promised one but didn't get in touch. I ended up sat in front of my PC all day waiting for them to get in touch. The person concerned did have the decency to apologise afterwards, though.

It's just a matter of respect and good manners if nothing else. Hopefully the person concerned reads this and learns a small lesson by putting themselves in your shoes. And sends an honest, apologetic PM.

I'm so sorry!
It's awful to get your hopes up for it then end up without even a proper explanation... :/
