Red Rubber lyrics

So my wife, who isnt a big manics fan has been reading a book called King Leopolds Gohst, about the Belgian colonisation of Congo. Naturally this has led to alot of discussion between us on this topic, and along the way I played her Red Rubber, and we were looking at the lyrics. I know roughly what Red Rubber is about, and most of the but im a bit puzzled by the opening line,

"My idle ledgers have fiasco boss"

Anyone have any idea what the hell this is all about?

Financial corruption maybe? Ledgers for compiling accurate accounts left idle under fiasco dictators .... Maybe?

Judging from Nicky tweeting it twice in the past, the opening line is more likely to be "My eyelids as heavy as gold bars".

I've never listened to it before. A Manics song out there I haven't listened to. Tut. Definitely should before commenting on lyrics yes
I agree Comrade....although to be honest I hear My hindlegs as heavy as gold bars.
Definitely gold bars though
I also hear a bit of the old Dr Who theme tune

Yes, thank you! Finally I can stop puzzling what idle ledgers are Eyelids as heavy as gold bars, it is.

I just wanted to say Red Rubber is an absolutely massive song.
