True. But more than that, I think they would define themselves as socialist rather than communist, and their ideals are probably closer to the likes of Solidarnosc than to the Polish communists.

definitely, but who would like to have deals with ruling communists? that's the worst kind of politicians, people with Stalinist views and full of power

Sam, you're very well oriented in Eastern Europe's history, you studied anything in that field?

I did a tiny tiny bit of Eastern European cultural history as an undergraduate, but mainly I study Russian culture of the 1950s. I'm not very knowledgable in areas outside Russia, although I do speak a tiny bit of Czech and did a little bit of Czech and Polish literature.

I feel like we're making this thread quite serious!

that's interesting! I'm quite interested in those topics as well.

definitely this thread shouldn't be serious but joyful as it's the first Manics' gig in Czech Republic since 2002!

(if I can't have them at home, visiting our southern neighbours is a great idea)

I kind of want to go- I've never been to the Czech Republic.

is Trutnov a big town? I've got a train from Jelenia Góra (Pol) that's on the route to Trutnov during the summer period, so for me and my mates it wouldn't be a big problem to get there. do you have any idea about the accommodation? I'd rather choose hostel than tents...
Well as I already said I hate festivals and I'm just going to get off the car when I can hear the ME riff and then leave for Prague when they finish Tolerate so I'm not very interested in the festival and to be honest I just don't know how to get some posters... but if it's possible I'll certainly steal one for You somewhere Actually it could be interesting to see Manics written on the paper full of such shitty bands....

Trutnov is not a big town at all. I've been to there so I don't know about accomodation - but I can try to find something later - and if You find something and want me to check it I'm here and powerful

Yes that's kinda true and I think that in the general election in three weeks here, they would definitely be right-wing electors because our left-wing parties are either stalinists or half-stalinists having their own imaginations about democracy. But still they have connections to communism of our kind - the biggest example is of course Castro (even though the worst Manics' thing ever for me is "Cuban boxers still win" that's such a stupid sentense that "DDR's athlets still win" is better - because it's funny at least) - that visit was a big mistake and I hope they know it now. It's been taken very negative here and I think they've lost many potentional fans in our country by that. But one would be surprised how many Richey fans are here

I was thinking the same! I'm going to Pukkelpop too, though only 19 and 20 August. It really wouldn't be that crazy to think they could play Pukkel on the 19 and the next day in Prague......

as I see it atm the tickets section is strange because it seems like we've been buying tickets for 2009, so look out!
I'm gonna write to them about that.

I need to think about the accommodation for at least 4 people. and I'll probably take a train to Jelenia Góra (Pol) and then there are trains during the summer period to Trutnov.

still I have no idea what should I wear
