North American Manics Fans...Project Idea Time

(And if you live elsewhere, if you want to show some solidarity!)

So the Manics haven't done a show here since 2009. And before that, it was 1999. Clearly, they do have a fanbase (though, yes, it's pretty small) here. And we would love to see them play here again. Or for the first time, since I didn't start getting into them until after they played here last.

Since they're trying to keep away from UK gigs for another year or so, this is the perfect opportunity for them to visit again! So me and some other fans had an idea to get the band's attention. Or, at least, try to.

We know Nicky loves postcards. So on my trip to Boston over this weekend, I bought up some postcards and we decorated some very lovely ones for the band. Like, went all out - stickers, Sharpie and colored pencil drawings, very heartfelt messages about how their North American fans would love to see them again.

However, it's going to look silly if I just sent them a pile of postcards from New York and Boston.

So if you want to join in with our "Campaign to Get the Manic Street Preachers to Tour North America Again for Crying Out Loud":

1. Get some postcards (or hell, make your own)

2. Write a lovely message for the band

3. Do what Nicky would do - decorate with stickers, glitter, go wild.

4. Either mail it yourself, or you can send it to me and I'll mail it with mine. I figured since we made so much, I'm throwing them in an envelope to make it easier (and cheaper) to send heh.

We figured the best place to send them is Hall or Nothing. Is this very wishful thinking? Definitely. Will it work? Hell knows. If it does, yay. If not, it's still a fun project. Right?

Their usual Canadian stops would be Toronto or Vancouver. Not likely to see them where I live. Vancouver is a bit more doable but I know Toronto more.

I'm pretty sure they did Montreal last time, because that's where a friend of mine saw them. I don't know if that's better for you

As far as I knew, it was only two cities. I wanted to go, but a family member was battling cancer at the time and it was inappropriate to take off. I have regretted it as I had waited years to see the band. It never seems to work out for me. Montreal is a great city. Good food, hockey, and shopping.

I don't live in the US, but I know the feeling...
I'd love to help, but I don't know how?

If their next album's shit we'll be kicking them out of the country anyway - we can extradite them to the US if you want

Hmm, this is a good excuse to post the picture I made last time around. Maybe it could be a postcard, lol

That is fabulous. I say do it!

I know the Manics lost money on their last tour here, considering they were playing such tiny venues (I saw a gig on Friday at the venue they played when they went to Boston and holy crap. My friend told me the capacity was 500). But there is a demand here and the die-hards will come. Especially if they're avoiding UK gigs for the time being, it's another place for them to visit heh.

And thank you for the reception on my idea

Ok, I stand corrected. She saw them in Toronto on the last tour!

And even if the album sucks, I'm ok with extraditing them here heh.

Consider it done. I obviously cannot send postcards from the US but I will send a Christmas card or something else.
