Few mixed feelings about this, really. Yeah, I love them and they're still my favourite band but I'm kinda feeling like my days of wanting to go to as many gigs as I possibly can are gone. Right now, I'm aiming for both Manchester nights and considering York and Liverpool. Want to do whatever the Welsh one might be, too.

Interested to find out whether the original album with Nobody Loved You or this one with Prologue in its place. It'd feel wrong if the latter, but would be surprised if they don't play it at all. Little disappointed with the content of the reissue, it's the first one not to have a dvd with it. I mean Holy Bible and Everything Must Go have had two each, would've loved there to have been summat in a similar vein for Truth, sat discussing the recording and how they felt about the album at the time and feel now etc. Even if it was summat like Glastonbury headlining or that Close Up documentary, there's plenty of stuff that could've been included. Could've included the live cassette b-sides too. Hope there's some decent liner notes at least...

Venue wise, I'm glad they've gone to smaller venues. Having minor ticket panic about these though.. As much as I love the album, beyond the obsessive fans on here and the Facebook groups and that, I struggle to gauge how popular the album is now. Yeah, it sold a fuck load at the time and that'll be why it's become the Manics album I've seen in the most charity shops and bargain bins. Does seem to have been the tipping point for a lot of ex-fans though.. I kinda like that they're mirroring that initial 98 tour where they'd taken a step back from the arenas and gone for smaller places off the beaten track. Had to scroll through msppedia just now, wasn't sure they'd ever done York but they did in 1991. Course this tour'll tie in nicely with festival season, got Glastonbury tickets so hoping they'll end up there 20 years after their headline slot. Maybe could get away with headlining The Park or summat, but can't see em starting after 7pm on the Pyramid.

The Amazon listing has more info on the “demos”.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07J3KHV...reet+preachers

There’s basically three studio demos.

I get people’s apprehensions on here. I think the editions are a bit crap and now that there is a no purchase necessary code, I’m cancelling my order. To be honest, the best thing I like about these new editions is the promo they do. Always get a few little tidbits of insight into the songs and the time.

I've got a feeling it will be the Cardiff City Stadium, though they may look at Parc Eirias or the Racecourse Ground in North Wales as well.

Being a prologue, Prologue To History should have been put at the start & the rest of the album left untouched. The album has been a part of my life for 20 years. The band probably haven't revised it for 20 years, so don't have the comfort and memory of sitting through those 13 tracks, in that order, that I have. Box set doesn't even have the live tracks which were on the cassette singles and European CD singles.

Just a head's up - the Edinburgh gig is same day as the Edinburgh Marathon, so hotels are likely to be on the more expensive side to a normal Sunday.
(that should reduce the number of people scrambling for Edinburgh tickets on Wednesday/Friday )

If I'm able to get a ticket my sisters are amazing but if not more to concentrate on the CDs.
So many other music I was interested in this year but like it hasn't entered public consciousness fully, you can't be into albums when on Universal Credit!
I see why streaming is more popular, but there were so many things I'd wanted physical copies of.

They played Belfast the night after Slane as well. That was the night If You Tolerate This Your Children WIll Be Next went to number 1.

Well I have cancelled my order and just going to use the code from the sign-up. All 3 reissue options are a bit underwhelming really.

So when is the actual presale happening off the back of the sign up/purchases? Wednesday or Thursday?

I’m still not sure whether the original Nobody Loved You is included or not. The official store’s track listing text has it but amazon’s listing doesn’t. More worryingly, the artwork doesn’t appear to list it on CD2 (if you squint you can see it’s there after S.Y.M.M., but only once, which means it might only be the demo Nicky mentioned).

Still a game of wait and see....!
