MSP Story Songs Such As... Ah... Hmm...

Manics songs that are stories.
There doesn't seem to be that many?
Kevin Carter, Ballad of the Bangkok Novotel and ah...

I suppose you could say 4st 7lb tells a story, but I see that as more a snapshot of a moment extended as far as possible.

Is "Virginia State Epileptic Colony" is more of a documentary rather than a story.
And TIHOE... I'm 50/50 on that one as well.

Let's see if we can't get a list of at least 5 story songs!

Kevin Carter
Ballad of the Bangkok Novotel

How about Ready for Drowning?

#Here's a true story

sounds promising!

#…said someone to me yesterday

oh, so it's kind of secondhand, umm...

#said he'd heard it in a taxi

oh, this is sounding less convincing. So you heard it from someone who heard it from someone else in a taxi, so … it's likely they heard it from someone else too … so, er, maybe not, I don't think that would really stand up in court.

Still, it's kind of a story about a story!

I actually like the way it's put up. It sounds like a folk tale. A well spread mouth to mouth story. A case everybody knows about.

If I remember correctly it refers to an incident shortly after Richey's disappearance, where Nicky got in a taxi somewhere around Blackwood and was told by the taxi driver that a local man who was in a famous band had gone missing recently (the driver not realising who Nicky was).

That's a great story that I hadn't heard.

I love finding new aspects to songs.

so basically theyve never written a full on story song as such and of course neither a love song as such either hmmm...

how about La Tristesse though?? its a story told through the eyes of an old war veteran so although not technically a Nicky/Richey life story its a plausible one!
