Manics Album Gigs?

Hi,

I was thinking, a lot of bands do "album tours" now

For example - Suede played 7 nights at the same venue, and every night did a whole album in full and the b sides from that album

If the Manics were to do one, which nights would you make the most effort to get to

For me, it would be Lifeblood, JFPL and Postcards

I was thinking, its a great idea, it varies the sets - and you can pick and choose what you want to see

A good venue choice would be hammersmith or brixton

Yes true - but the only way this would work - is if they were all at a central location - where everyone can get to.

If they did album gigs they'd probably have to pair up the albums, well maybe not GT, just do B Sides and rarities with that one. And fuck London they should do 'em back home in Cardiff CIA

I would love to go to all of them!

I think the GT one would be interesting. It would allow them to change a few things they've always wanted to - like the arrangement/style of 'Love's Sweet Exile'.

I'd like to see which version of 'Spectators of Suicide' gets played as I've always much preferred the Heavenly version.

If they did b-sides too perhaps 'A Vision of Dead Desire' could return to its punky roots of 'UK Channel Boredom' (much better verse arrangements)...

EDIT:

How would they do Stars and Stripes though? I don't like the song, but it if they could pull it off it would certainly be different.

Not going to happen, which I'm fine with.

But if they did do Generation Terrorists start to finish they'd finally have to play So Dead!

The ultimate was Sparks - they played all 21 of their albums in London in 2008!! The shows I'd go for would be THB, EMG & JFPL. Not sure what additional tracks they could do for JFPL though

If they ever do it, I can only really see it being Everything Must Go and a slight chance it could be Send Away The Tigers, The Holy Bible or Generation Terrorists.
They play A Design For Life, Kevin Carter, Everything Must Go, Small Black Flowers That Grow In The Sky, Australia and No Surface All Feeling frequently plus Enola/Alone now and again. Plus, it being the album most music fans associate with the Manic Street Preachers.

I think they should do Truth, I think that would make a great gig as so many of that albums tracks are great live, plus the B-sides of the time were pretty good, and you could do a 2nd half featuring Masses, as that kinda closed the book on that period.

I also agree that Lifeblood would be nice because there was a huge amount of good material around at the time with all the random Forever Delayed stuff that could/would fit in with all of that.

Much as I love THB, I don't think it would be right to re-re-visit it.

If they ever do any of these album gigs in the future, I just hope they film some of them for dvd release.
