It depends on your definition of "proper record shop". It doesn't fit mine, maybe it fits yours.

The FOPP (which HMV have pointlessly Invested in) in Tottenham Crt Road was imo a Proper Record Store:

Take a CD and personal stereo from behind the counter and listen to it in the Cafe downstairs whilst reeading/looking through a Book from the shelf downstairs and having a Petermann Artois (rip) on Tap!
