The bassist, 41, told me at Arthur’s Day: “If we get to the top of the charts I’m going up to my mum’s for egg and chips. It’ll be the last chance to see her before we go on tour. We’ve learned 42 songs and our gimmick is to try and change the set list each night.”

Fuck 42 alternating (well some of them) for the tour!

Me neither. I wouldn't have known there was an advert if it weren't for people on here mentioning it.

number 3 is about right for a Manic album. Script & Collins beateing them? Could be worse

awwww would've been brilliant if they made it. Mebbe nicky will comiserate with chips and egg instead of celebrate lol

I didn't see any telly ads either though i'm not sure seeing more of em would've made much difference if it was that close. How close is close anyway? YLAINE missed the top spot by 640 copies dint it or was that SATT? and the doves album missed number 1 by six copies..i'd be gutted if it was that close to the wire. Ho ho see what i did there? i should be on the stage

I'd say so. Reports have said Nicky has been privy to early figures all week.

State of music though is just how the Wire said regarding rock music being a dying art. Phil Collins. I mean come on? I wonder when the first rant onstage about it occurs from the Wire then.

Phil Collins and The Script? That's mass communication right there. Now stop fucking about with this shite, lads, and write some good songs again.

If it's 'mass communication' then they're looking for a continuous chart presence as they had with EMG, so they need to keep promoting and selling it so it does get to no.1 or at least stays in the top 10 for many weeks.

Does the album have that appeal? I have mixed feelings on some of the songs but if one album can regain their EMG status then it is this one. It's polished enough to be huge if word of mouth can get the attention of emerging music fans.

it'd be interesting to see where the album sits next week. Hopefully it stays in the top 10 but i have a feeling it'll sink to top 20 or 30. I doubt it'll stay near the top for weeks and weeks
