I'm reading Nailed to History at the moment....that mentions James' is drinking. He did become a kind of semi-alcoholic. Probably after his girlfriend left him, then it just got worse when Richey went.

James was drinking at the Barfly gig in 2006, pretty sure of that. He went on a bender with Wayne Murray i remember hearing about it. Bollocks again from the Wire, as usual! In fact, Wire has said many many times before over the last 10 years 'i don't drink anymore anyway'...so wtf?!

Nicky does tent to not hold promises. it's not the first time he said that he don't drink anymore and in the next day he's with a bottle of wine! And I used to believe him!
Nicky, if you don't have a proof from you doctor that you are sober I can't believe you

It's like Father Jack claiming he never drinks.

I remember in that interview with Uncut magazine James saying he was never in any danger of becoming an alcoholic. They mentioned Dylan Thomas to him! He said he was a good drinker and enjoyed a drink. Glad that he's cut down a bit now. An occasional drink is fine, these benders from his youth are a thing of the past though. That's probably what he's moping about.

He must have really bad Gilbert's cos my doctor told me when mine was diagnosed that it wouldn't really do much to me if I drank. Of course I'm a teetotalitarian anyway (unrelated reasons) so I've never tested it...
