Both of these songs, being that they are a bit more folky than the other stuff we've heard from Futurology yet having the electronic sheen, sound like they come straight from the Lifeblood era. Which, to me, is fantastic.

If anyone is interested I think the instrument people might want to identify (in Caldey) is the Indian Shenai Oboe.

I think Caldey is going to become one of my favourites out of all of their b-sides. Love it.

I wasn't blown away by either b-side on first listen, but they are both growing on me a lot with each listen.

Well based on the snippet I heard on my phone!
Yeah that's exactly what I thought.

Caldey is easily my 2nd favourite b-side ever!

Caldey has grown on me massively over the last 24 hours but I adore TSOD - it sounds so weird but cool. My only gripe is that the lyrics aren't as fleshed out as Caldey and it suffers from that same old manics tripe of 2 verses, 3 choruses.

The bastards!

It's the same with the other track too. I got to the solo and was like... don't go there, man... do NOT go THERE!

Still, it's safely all digital and on Spotify where it can't make me feel disgusted with myself. I still have an It's Not War CD single in the house...

But from the one listen I had of Caldey, it did me think of them in their own 3 Men in a Boat series. So there's that...

There is a bit more originality with Caldey though...

So do I mate. "Caldey" is a decent song but it's more obviously b-side material, where as "The Sound Of Detachment" sounds like it may sit quite easily alongside the album tracks.
