Ever xx
Went and found my sole Japan album, their first. Self titled. Since Nicky's tweet I've gone and done a bit of research and ordered a couple of the bands albums. The first Japan album released 1975 is pretty glam rock. Stand out track is "Adolescent Sex". Quite a rocking glam single. Stands the test of time rather well. "Communist China" is also good. The rest of the album has a bit too many wigged out guitar solos for my liking, but Nicky might like that.

I haven't caught up with hearing much of the Japan period that Nicky mentions. The band went from glam to new romantic before new romantic really took off. They do seem to be rather arty which is perhaps why Nicky likes them so. I wouldn't really want Japan to influence the band though. Has anyone else followed up with listening to Japan or were listening to Japan before Nicky's tweet?

I was a big Japan fan and dyed/cut my hair to attempt to look like David Sylvian!

Wow, that's a really gutsy effort and I take it it was some time ago? Not too many people could pull off a David Sylvian bleached haircut these days. Apart from Dickon Edwards.

Badly bleached hair and white sports socks are always a bad look on anyone. I've met Dickon...he is nice tho.

I'm interpreting the silence from Nicky as being a good sign. Now would be about the right time in the timeline of the two year break to record some advanced demos? Unless I'm missing something and the band are all away on holidays in Spain.

Maybe he's going to 'do a Bowie' and keep silent for the coming year til the first single comes out. No, probably not.

Wire only tends to be active on Twitter when he's in 'Manics mode' - periods when there's a new album out, they're touring, they're being awarded/mentioned/etc. There's nothing MSP-y going on in the public eye at the moment so updating the Twitter has probably slipped off his mind for the time being.

Totally agree. They're probably in the studio - fingers crossed. Hope Nicky is also writing his second book, I really want to read whatever he writes as it will be fascinating to get his point of view on anything to do with the band, younger years etc.

It would be really nice to get some random tweets though. Surely he has some views on Bowie's release...the royal baby, the football, anything. just hope we get something soon.

That might be believable if it was Seans account.
