View Full Version : strange timing?

i don't know if any of you saw that 'drama' with Ross Kemp (i'm not grant no more, ok?) last night on ITV... but anyway, i read that it was actually the first thing he did after leaving eastenders, but that it was pulled due to the timing.

basically it was about arms deals and terrorism in the middle east (iran, i think, i switched to BB after a bit, which was infinitely less grating and more informative...), and it was pulled initially because it was deemed too raw to show soon after 9/11. it also was crucially about anonymity and immunity, the guy had to leave his entire life and create a new one.

so does anyone else think it was a bit odd to show it last night? in light of saudi? iraq still rolling on? madrid? (not to mention Maxine carr on the anonymity front).

i suspect that this time it was allowed to air because ITV had been advertising it for a long while (about 2 weeks i think) so to reschedule would've been awkward, but to me it kind of says 'well, if the americans have been bombed we can't refer to it at all, but if anyone else has been attacked/bombed/shot down etc it doesn't really matter so much' (but this may well be me being reactionary....)

any thoughts?

\They wouldn't have showed it if Britain had just been bombed.
