Barclays vs Sark

Now I'm all for democracy, but this seems more like the Barclays demanding control of the island because they can basically afford to buy it and using blackmail to get what they want - ie reform or we destroy the island's economy and are now throwing the toys out of the pram because the islanders disagreed with them.

It's so petty isn't it? Makes you wonder why they were there in the first place cos I doubt if these are recent investments done purely to foster democracy...
