I'm really pleased about this. While this doesn't affect me personally, it affects a lot of my friends in the US. Since i'm against the nanny state idea, it makes me even more pleased. The comments by the Culture and Family Institute spokesman and Focus on the Family spokesman really piss me off, ignorant attitudes like this make me feel ill. As this ruling affects Texas, it would be interesting to see what Bush's response is going to be -- alienating some Republican voters and wooing new voters, or making current Republicans happy and alienating potential Republican voters.

That is very, very cool. Definitely a day to celebrate.

I coldn't read the article in full cos I was getting so furious at the moral majority-type reasoning the defence people were give. All that 'moral norms' and 'sacred love' bullshit; sooner that's out, the better.

Hooray!

good news, although laws never really stopped people doing anything in their own homes if theyre private enough. just means they dont have to tip-toe anymore though.

Great news, a step in the right direction. It's a pity that this change of law will not also change the attitudes of many people, I've never understood how a country that always preaches about freedom and liberalism can be so backward sometimes.

god. the whole concept is fucking ridiculous. People have been having gay sex for *how* long?
I mean, i guess im supposed to happy in the name of *progress* or something. But im just disgusted at the concept that there were idiotic laws in place for so long, in the first place. . .
plus, I was listening to the radio, and everyone (okay, right wing christian republicans) is in an uproar about the *homosexual agenda* and such bullshit ! . . .dear me, some people are just too stupid to be allowed. . .
AMERICA: HOME OF THE BACKWARD!

Depends what you believe in. If you believed that strongly it was wrong and should be stopped at all costs, you'd outlaw it too.

its nice to see america doing something good for a change ever if it is a long time overdue.
what with that and the white paper for same sex couples to be given same rights as married couples which is nice, although again, long overdue.
