View Full Version : Labour Website Hacked
This is a laugh, someone hacked the labour site this morning and replaced it with a picture of Bush holding a dog with blair's head!

Yeah. The difference being, they probably have a paid team of gurus to sort it all out and are able to devote 100% of their time to it, whereas people who work on FD do it for free and as a hobby, an aside to their own lives. Ever thought of that one?
One hobby amongst several, actually.

as far as i know all the problems with hacking were just with phpbb (the profile page not loading, the PM contents being deleted) and all it would have taken would have been a backup from an older backup. you (as in the mods in general, not you personally) decided to change to vbulletin, which would have taken a bit longer for everyone to decide exactly what to do (maybe a couple of days) and vbulletin takes about 5 minutes to set up on a local machine to do a bit of testing with it, then another half an hour to get it sorted out on the server (im being generous with the half an hour) and a bit more testing to make sure everything is sorted. i would say that would be about 3 days in total (and that includes the time for contacting the other mods to make descisions).

Gee, with all that knowledge, I'm gobsmacked that you didn't set up a forum yourself! It's nice to know how easy it all is.

im sure i could. i just dont have any webspace that supports php and mySQL, or any need to create a forum. but if i find a need to i will time how long it took me, especially for you.

that is just a search for "mysql". that will be fine for telling me what MQSQL is or something similar, but that is not what i need...

Thats better I place the proper link there, now off we go.
Ask someone with a site already, i'm sure you know people.

I'm glad you missed us so much that you come here when we open again, though, Jack.

i didnt say i didnt like posting here. i was just commenting on how long it took for the forum to come back after from what i can see were trivial attacks on the forum.

urgh...three weeks, so what, it's back now, that's all I'm bothered about. why do some people feel the need to live in the past...get over it Jack come on FFS, stop trying to undermine the admin with all this talk of "i could have done it quicker". there's probably many reasons for the long downtime and it's the choice of the admin when they decide to work on it...they don't live to serve us.

thats what im getting at! if there were reasons for the downtime then tell us! then ill be quiet about it if there are perfectly valid reasons!
jack
EDITED to correct the spelling mistake
How about just being quiet? If they wanted to tell us, they would. I personally don't care, and from the lack of other people asking for them, it seems no-one else cares either. Besides somehow, it seems likely that you wouldn't accept anything as a valuid (sic) reason....
Tsk, can't we all get along?
