View Full Version : Lord Archer out
Yep, he's going to be released in july! Personally i think his whole imprisonment has really been a sham, what with writing and publishing novels, going out for lunch and going home for champagne buffets....
i possibly will get pilloried for admitting this but i have to confess to quite liking jeffrey archer. he should never have been sent to jail for perjury, its ridiculous how serious criminals can escape jail and pose a danger to the public, while archer is imprisoned for perjury and contempt of court. he should of received a massive fine and have been forced to complete years of community service, that i believe would of been a more appropriate sentence. while i should not like such a hopeless liar and fraud, i just can't allow myself to hate him, maybe its charm that has blinded me, but some of his lies and the fact he managed to get away with so many epic lies is really quite amusing. he's an absolute bastard but this loveable rogue genuinely is a star...

i can see more of his face on television unfortunately when he comes out. I can also predict lots of OK style features on Jeffrey Archer my life in prison which would be terrible as he doesn't deserve to have the press.
is he not already publishing his journals himself?
Tsunami has some good points, but I agree with Tim as well. It is a bit of a sham what with his soft treatment and all.

i totally disagree with the idea that because someone (for example) who attacks someone gets a light sentence or just a slap on their wrists that someone who does a crime like perjury (a 'victimless' crime )should have a small sentence as well. If perjury wasn't treated so harshly then the court system would be in a far bigger mess than it currently is.
Frankly a jail term isn't good enough for someone like Archer - his hands should be chopped off and his tongue ripped to make it really hard for him to write his crap novels! (although i'm sure he could get his editor to continue writing them)
