how can you not have seen blue peter when he was on?! he > than the rest of them
jack
But how many of the blue peter presenters do you know from before you were born? Most people over about 15 don't watch blue peter.
He was a Blue Peter presenter was he? I've not watched it since the heady days of Simon Groom down on the farm with Goldie. My most enduring memory of Blue Peter when I was a child was crying when Petra died.

i know someone who gave him a hand job once in the toilets of a theatre during the edinburgh festival.
what a crap claim to fame :D
That photo in the news item makes him look guilty
eurgh
This is a bit of a turn up isn't it? I thought he was more or less scott-free.
Looks like the end of his career then.

His career had pretty much ended anyway

Can I point something out here?
Firstly: the charge of rape was dropped. This is a lesser charge against him.
Secondly: he hasn't been convicted yet! The language that some of you are using is pure Sun, you're assuming he's guilty just because charges have been made. Innocent until proven guilty.
Both of these points are being ignored totally by the papers, who seem to have an attitude of "rape, indecent assualt, same thing, perv, innit? now, where were our naked Page 3 pictures?"
I don't think any of the comments in the thread are anything like the sun, we are talking about him being charged, which he has. And the CPS must think there's something worth pushing ahead with if the police are going ahead, after it was widely thought that they wouldn't.
I don't know if he's guilty or not, that's what the trial is for. It really annoys me when newspapers meddle in the law, be it by effectively slandering someone or even paying witnesses - the vast majority are eventually thrown out of court.
Precisely, in my view when celebrities get linked to things like this their careers never seem to recover anyway.

I;m rather glad the charges have been made.
now he can actually get around to clearing his name, and, suing that shit-weasel from Ch. 5
Yeah, Channel 5 news is basically just a tabloid version of events.

To be fair, thats not really true. Matthew Wright present a Talk Show, not the news. The news isn't too bad and isnt really tabloidy at all. In fact their use of the panel can be quite interesting.

As much as I agree with alexliamw pointing out our guilty-until-proven-innocent language, I think this is also a bit assumptive. (no offence Tom!) We may as well face it, we know fuck all, and we can't make any assumptions.
I still maintain though, that with the current abysmal conviction rate on sex offences, any innocent verdict simply doesn't mean that much. Which is shitty on those who are really innocent, as Leslie may well be.
Anyway alexliamw, I dunno about news not getting tabloidy - they BRANDED the Iraq conflict! Did you not see the cute little logo 'IraqWar' on every report? If that's not tacky, I don't know what is. I think if news isn't too tabloidy now, it's heading that way; the latest ITC report recommended a the newsreaders put in their 'two cents' to pull in the viewers... can you imagine? Where's the spewing smiley when you need it?
(sorry bout rant.)

Channel 4 news owns all other news programmes, quite simply. Certain things about ITV and BBC and C5 all annoy me quite a lot in one way or another. While C5 may be closer to the tabloid equivalent than others, its still miles away from being actually a TV equivalent of a tabloid newspaper - its not so incredibly opinionated, not so simplified, and not so centred around celebrity happening.
