View Full Version : Bus drivers ?
Hi all
Hope your all well
On thursday of this week i was involved in an accident with a bus while coming home from work.
As i was riding my bike (Pushbike) home from work i got to the end of the pavement a bus was approaching now lately the buses where going straight down my road instead of turning the corner now i am usually very careful on my bike so i looked both ways i saw the bus approaching but he DID NOT have his indicator on so as anyone would do you natrually would think hes not turning the corner admittly on my part i shouldve waited but i did not think of this as the buses as i said have been going straight down my road instead of going up.
I started to cross and as i did the bus came road i went into the side of it was knocked straight off my bike he did stop but if he had carried on going i would not probably be writing this as part of me was under the bus.
As i stood up i walked around admittedly angry and furious as i was in a lot of pain as i got round to speak to the driver he just drove off.
So i didnt have no details or nothing basically he didnt seem to care that i was bleeding from the arm and had hurt my knee and shoulder which are still hurting now.
I phoned up the bus company as soon as i got in basically there where very rude and accused me of lying literally and just amazingly i got cut off.
I am not saying all bus drivers are rude and ignorant but the fact that i was hit by a bus and they didnt care and the rudeness of the bus company was unbelieveable its just added to how great things are going at the mo.
Have anyone of you had any similar problems with bus drivers ?
Be good to hear from you
Take care all Jason
Our Bus driver one drove under a low bridge and lost the top of his bus.
Lucky I wasn't on it.
sorry to hear that Jason...i've never had that much trouble with bus drivers...a lot around here are pretty grumpy I guess and they complain sometimes if you don't know how much it is to get somewhere (usually i have a flippy pass thing so i don't know actual fares). But on the whole they're ok round here I guess...one time some driver was talking to me really kind friendly...i think he mistook me for someone else...or he was trying to freak me out, but it was weird:confused:
although I guess I'd get grumpy if I had to do that job for a long time, the general public aren't the nicest people ever and if they have to do the school run that's even worse:rolleyes: ...although there's no excuse for what that bus driver did to you Jason...
Bus drivers are sub-human. I've real issues with them and bus companies generally.
It's ok if you repeatedly fail your driving test, you can still become a bus driver.
I hate bus drivers. They never say please or thank you, and drive so slow it makes me want to scream. Twats.
Sorry to hear what happened Jason, their treatment of you sounds horrendous. :( Maybe you should write to them?

That's not just bus drivers... Once I was walking on the side of the road because there was some works on the pavement, and some twat in his car hit my left arm and nearly broke it, although there was easily enough space on the other side of the road. Of course he didn't even stop to ask if I was OK.
Its not just motorists, where I go for my driving lessons, the old people have a tendacy to walk down the middle of the road, which aint to good seeing as I have a tendicy to push the accelerator as well as the brake when trying to stop.
Bus drivers are just bitter because they're one down the evolutionary scale from coach drivers... who are one down the evolutionary scale from taxi drivers... who are one down the evolutionary scale from chauffeurs... who are one down the evolutionary scale from respectable employment.
I'd be bitter too.
Bus drivers dream of occasions where they are just pulling out of the station and someone comes up and taps on the door begging to be let on, then the driver looks at the hapless individual to make sure they know he can see them and drives off. There's no better sight for a bus driver than watching a late worker scramming towards the bus stop; arms flailing the person gets there and the driver shuts the door, looks at the hapless individual to make sure they know he can see them and drives off.
ihh... that was an evil busdriver!
but otherwise. I think busdrivers are nice.
I want to be a busdriver.. I mean how wonderful, you sit there and drive and listen to compilation tapes and waves at other bus drivers
(and I will soon wake up and face reality ;))
No matter whose fault it was, the least they could have done was acknowledge what happened and see if you were Ok. You should also have had better treatment on the telephone
Write to them - they must have a customer relations/PR department and even if you're not blaming the driver (but he should have indicated) you have ligitimate cause to complain. Take piccies of your injuries if you need proof! If you're still in pain, make sure you get it looked at to make sure you're Ok. hope you're feeling better though, this sort of thing shakes you up a bit.
Aside from this particular case - there are a whole range of personalities in any job, and in general the ones I come across in Derby are pretty friendly and polite - more so than the ones we had in Manchester. Maybe they get less abuse here!

My boyfriend's Dad is a bus driver and he's really nice!
He's always helping people to get on buses, if they have pushchairs etc and he will stop between stops if someone wants to get off. There're not all bad!
your boyfriends dad is sounds great.i wish the bus drivers where i live were like that.i cant drive so i need the bus to get to work.theyare so moody, they never help anyone justlet people struggle with prams and they always drive off as soon as you get on so anyone with kids are all over the place.at the moment they are striking for more pay.i deal with the public in my job and if i behaved the way they did i would have been sacked long ago

i *hate* bus drivers. that really sucks hunni - there must be a complaints department - or even better get an angry sounding man with a loud voice to shout at them and threaten legal action :)
we recently found out that one of my bus drivers when i was at school was a rapist and child sex offender!!!!
another one from the same company was an alcoholic and drove us to school pist
and finally another one ran some guy on a bike over, killed him but didn't stop - even though all the students on the bus were screaming at him to stop....he claims that he heard nothing, saw nothing and that no one had told him of what he'd done at the time...LIAR! i was on the fucking bus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! poor blokes family - the driver wasn't even sorry...said that he couldn't be sorry for something that he didn't realise what he'd done - but he's gone to prison anyway - bitta justice i suppose
needless to say these drivers were saked - but HOW can you employ someone who is on the registered child sex offender list as a driver of a school bus?!?!?!?!?
glad i'm at uni now
oh and Joe - where are you from?!?!? slow driving bus drivers?!?!? we dream of them!!! they go so quickly in leicester that you fear for your life sometimes!!!

My sister got rammed by a bus a while ago, and the bus carried on.....she phoned the police  So i'd get compensation of the bis driver, especially if he didn't indicate.
bus drivers are too lenient.....
they got all those signs saying "smoking on this bus will result in £500 penalty" but they carry on regardless, ignoring the smokers, only once have i seen a bus driver warn off smokers at the back of the bus, she was female, u go girl!
But there's a bus driver i know, who is funny, whether u like it or not, he'll talk to you! A mercedes cut him off somewhere once, so he shouted to the whole bus, something like "RIGHT, YOU'RE FOR IT NOW"
And lastly, i'm waiting for a bus i'm on to have a minor accident whilst the bus driver is on his mobile, so i can sue his ass!
i tried to get on a bus which I had been getting on for ages, but the bus driver decided I wasnt allowed and he grabbed my arm and tried to physically push me off the bus. I prob should have made a complaint.
Damn right.
We should make a stand against Bus drivers dagnamit.

We used to have a bus driver who smoked whilst driving the bus to college.
But we also had one of the coolest ones, he must of been about 60, and looked like a bloke who worked on a miniature railway, he was always chirpy.
Not all bus drivers are bad. You get nice people and arseholes like you do in the rest of the human race. It's a shit job too, I don't blame them for being grumpy. I know someone who's a night bus driver in london and virtually every night someone tries to beat him up or stab him...

A lot of bus drivers are nice but the bus company that used to take me to school were always late and i remember on my 1st day at secondary school missing the intruductory assembly becuase it was so late so i didn't have a clue where to go, eventually people started complaining so they started arriving too early on purpose and people ended up missing the buses cos they weren't at the stops and the drivers wouldn't wait for them.
Then when i got to uni i had to get somewhere but ended up being late cos the stupid (stagecoach) driver who must have been about 17 was busy chatting to these townie girls who were about 15 and who hadn't paid to get on the bus about his fantasies of shagging them on the bus, then we couldn't leave the station until one of them had finished reading all the text messages on the phone, then when i needed to get back at about midnight in the pissing rain he just flashed his lights at me when i was at the bus stop and drove straight past meaning that i had to walk a couple of miles to get back home. I complained to stagecoach who wouldn't even apologise to me just because the driver denied it all.
Ooh, bus drivers...
I remember being given a credit note to the value of 50p once when the driver didn't have enough change to give me. Then when I tried to redeem it on a future journey the driver had a go at me like it was MY fault! Twat.
And then once I was getting a single to my hometown, and the driver replied "Hmph, I wasn't going to STOP there." It's on the frigging route, dickhead!
All of these experiences were on the same bus route. Funny that.

That wasn't on the 100 was it? There is a really arsey driver on that route, the kind who gets to stops two minutes early, watches as an elderly lady runs up to catch the bus, and greets her with "well you should get here earlier then".
Wasn't actually - but it was similar! The (possibly defunct?) X1 that went from London to Southend. Always quicker and cheaper than the bloody 100 (though of course, if you LIKE the scenic route through Orsett...).
That was, of course, in the rare event that the X1 actually turned up. Much time spent at that stop in Sockett's Heath.
I do realise very few people know what I'm talking about :D

Ah, Essex bus routes... reliable, friendly and regular are three words that would never even come within a million miles of describing the service ;) That's why I gave up on the X1 and started getting the train!! ;)
Ooh I'd never get a coach to London...
But don't get me STARTED on the trains

The bus service here in Notts is frequently infuriating, but i dont blame the drivers.
The council fat cats are the ones to get pissed off with.
There is a chronic shortage of bus drivers, because the wages are so shite. drivers prefer to work on the private companies routes, which go to the well off villages and are nicer at night, and pay better. this results in total guess work as to when the bus will turn up. i once waited an hour and a half for a bus which was supposedly every half hour. i was going early to see a band to be at the front, in the end i ended up just making it.
then of course the drivers get all the shit, because the system can't cope. the council buses dont even give change for gods sake!
yes, there are some power crazy bus drivers, but they are just bitter, twisted and sad, and would be in any job.

The whole public transport thing is a sham..
The drivers get paid shit wages unless its within a big city like London. I am slightly prejudice :D cos my cousin drives a bus in the outskirts of sw London.
But anyhow nothing condones shitty behaviour..
Also the buses themselves..I remember coming home one day on the bus and there was literally a fountain of water coming up from the floor, where the road is/was. Then in the past month or so I've been on at least 2 new buses that have broken down. The ones that have special air for pneumatics or hydraulics cant remember which.
Also by law you should be able to get some compensation if you note down the registration number of the person that wet you :o But I know thats hard. I have been saturated by bus drivers too and normal cars :( Its people just living life fast and forgetting what they're doing :o

Sorry to hear that Jason!
It seems bus drivers are the same all over, I have to be ultra careful crossing the road here in Wellington when there's a bus around, the drivers are speed freaks I've nearly been bowled over a few times  .
Hi again all Hope everyone is ok and keeping well
They just really make me laugh they speed down my now there isnt much room what with cars parked on the pavements and basically it makes me laugh as to why double deckers are allowed down such a tight road.
when i was once again riding home from work tonight the bus was coming towards and mounted the pavement as he did so if he had been any closer he wouldve knocked me flying Again as you can imagine my language wasnt very polite i screamed you naughty man lol More like what the f*** are you doing you f****** p**** you should how to F****** drive you W***** im sorry but i did have to have a little outburst due to my accident with them and everything i could nearly have been squashed again tonight and being squashed is the last thing i need right now.
Take care all have a good night and take care
Jason
