The crucible is an interesting play, albeit indirectly related to McCarthyism.:)

The western 'High Noon' with Gary Cooper is a good allegory on McCarthyism. Its screenplay was by Carl Foreman who was blacklisted...
Its one of the best American films ever IMO and so good it pissed John Wayne off enough to make a film in response to it - Rio Bravo (which itself was a good film, despite being right wing)

The Crucible is a fantastic play..we performed it when I was at school for our GCSE's. Seems like moons ago!

I did a dissertation on McCarthyism. Nightmare in Red by R. M. Fried (1990) is a fantastic book about the subject. Also: Seeds of Repression by A. Theoharis and The Agony of the American Left by C. Lasch
