View Full Version : Glastonbury
Ok, may as well get the ball rolling...
Glastonbury! Who's going? I'm starting to get rather excited. I hope the Manics change their set about a bit though.

Nicky said they will play Die in the summertime, and 2 or 3 b-sides at Glasto
Thats a good start, but I would be more impressed if they dropped some of their immoveable set monsters like Kevin Carter/You stole the sun etc and replaced them with stuff they don't normally play. I don't necessarily mean THB stuff, I'd be happy even if they played a few songs from KYE or some of the other stuff from TIMTTMY.
Or a few new songs! That would be best. Some peruvian noseflute jazz...
A Lovely Kazoo solo would be nice :p That would be different at least! Hopefully, we'll get prologue to history and a few other good b-sides.

Nah. Eclectic, fifteen-minute fretwanks are the way to go. Or rather, the way things MIGHT go. God help us all. ;)
It'd be cool if they came out with a really cutting edge new set, full of different-sounding new songs.. I think they've done enough of the nostalgia thing what with the greatest hits tour so I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't mind.
I'm hoping for some classics like Yes, This is Yesterday and Die in the Summertime, a smattering of bsides and covers, hopefully a few new songs and the obligatory you love us, motorcycle emptiness and a design for life. It should be good.
Hehe, eavis turned down Paul McCartney for the festival :

yup, I want them to really surprise me. Much as I love all those old favourites theyre obviously getting bored of playing the same ones and I'd rather they put in a few more rarities than doing acoustic versions like at Christmas . They may as well take advantage of the fact that they've not got a new album to push (well not new songs anyway). It's only a pity they've missed some of my favourites off Lipstick Traces cos I reckon Love Torn Us Under or Never Want Again would have gone down really well, oh well at least they're including Sculpture of Man heh heh!
I *so* badly wish I was going!  :( :(

I am.
in the philosophical sense
and the actual sense
yes.
Anyone up for organising a meetup, although it's probably only worth it if a few are going.
I'd be up for a meet if a few people were going. It seems like us glasto-bound people are in the minority here tho...

I'm going.. and god I'm so excited.. Die in thesummertime..yey! Apparently its Donkey and take the skinheads bowling too.;)
I just put my tent up in my garden and sat in it with a beer and a fag  I can't wait!
*goes running off shrieking and giggling*
ah tents, enough to bring excitement of a pant-wetting proportion to any otherwise sane person. :)
*loves tents*
I'm going to Glastonbury. Never been before - rather excited. Alot of my effort is going into attempting to be the anti-hippy for the whole weekend. But I do want to watch one of those naked dances...

I watched the David Gray performance on BBC Three with interest ( ) because that's the slot the Manics will have. He got almost 30 minutes on TV, as the sun slowly went down while he was playing. Hopefully, the Manics will get at least the same amount, and more would be welcome. It would also be nice to have a nice pink sky, Gray had to settle for an orange one.
I am so jealous! Just watched the highlights from yesterday....The Skatalites........fantastic!
